DANGEROUS DOUGH-OPS
Is it possible that the killjoys on Parliament Hill are actually more
short-sighted than we think? If Ottawa decriminalizes marijuana while
simultaneously banning trans fats, won't that effectively rob the pot
smoking experience of one of its primary pleasures? Does Ottawa expect
newly liberated pot smokers to satisfy the munchies with extra-large
helpings of broccoli and high-fibre cereal -- or will the new order simply
encourage the growth of new clandestine industries -- trafficking in
duchies, honey glazed and Hawaiian sprinkles?
Before long, Canada will be plagued with dough-ops in even the nicest
neighbourhoods. And let's face it, thanks to a dangerously unregulated
Internet, any enterprising 15-year-old kid will be able to track down a
grease-squirting fritter recipe in just 2.5 minutes.
