MEETING TO EXPLORE WAYS TO PREVENT SUBSTANCE ABUSE

Queen Sylvia of Sweden and Prince Talal Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud are set to
come to Dubai for a meeting on fighting drugs at the grassroots level.

The two are the main figures behind Mentor Foundation whose board of
trustees will meet in Dubai on December 2.

The Dubai meeting is held under the patronage of General Shaikh Mohammad
Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Defence Minister, and is
be expected to be attended by a number of leading Arab and international
figures.

Queen Sylvia is president of the foundation, an independent private group
operating internationally with organisations involved in the prevention of
substance abuse.

Besides being a Mentor trustee, Prince Talal is also the president of the
Arab Gulf Programme for United Nations Development Organisations, a leading
international humanitarian funding agency.

Mentor Foundation aims to shift social attitudes towards prevention of
substance abuse by disseminating latest findings on drug issues at the
community level and seeks to apply these findings to specific prevention
activities worldwide.

Lt Gen. Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Dubai Police Chief, welcomed the decision to
hold the meeting in Dubai.

A workshop will be held alongside the meeting to discuss the best
international practices in fighting the drugs menace.
