FEDERAL GRANTS TO AID CITY'S DRUG-ABUSE FIGHT
The federal government has authorized two grants totaling $925,000 to
help Denver fight drug abuse, Mayor John Hickenlooper announced Friday.
Hickenlooper said one grant is aimed at youths; the other will target
substance-abusing prostitutes.
There are some 45,000 to 60,000 Denver residents with substance-abuse
problems, the mayor's office said. Only 6,000 to 7,000 are getting
treatment, according to the city.
