ASSISTANT D.A. FACES FELONY DRUG CHARGES

An assistant district attorney with the Mountain Judicial Circuit
faces felony drug charges following his arrest last week.

Chief Jerry Ramos of the Grantville Police Department confirmed Monday
that Bob Cullifer was arrested Thursday, Dec. 23, for possession of
marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug
paraphernalia.

According to the Coweta County Sheriff's Department, Cullifer posted a
$6,000 bond on Dec. 24, and is scheduled to appear in Grantville
Superior Court on March 16, 2005.

Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney Mike Crawford confirmed
Monday that Cullifer has resigned his position. He would not give a
reason for Cullifer's resignation or comment further.

Crawford did say that Cullifer had been a prosecutor for close to 20
years, and had worked in the Mountain Judicial Circuit for about nine
years. Crawford said Cullifer was one of five assistant D.A.s in the
circuit, and worked mainly out of the Rabun County office but had been
assigned to some cases in Habersham County.

"The other assistants in our office will handle his load until we hire
someone else," Crawford said.

The Mountain Judicial Circuit covers Habersham, Rabun and Stephens
counties.

Attempts to reach Cullifer were unsuccessful Monday.
