LEGALIZE MEDICAL MARIJUANA

Thanks so much for your wise editorial Dec. 7, "Marijuana should be legal
as safe, prescribed medicine."

You are correct that if it were simple, people who need medical cannabis
would already have access. Most Americans already support legal access to
medical marijuana with a doctor's note. It is the people we elect to
represent us who are out of touch or lack the courage to run with this
issue, despite the popular support.

Here in Wisconsin, a Republican lawmaker who chairs the Assembly Health
Committee, Rep. Gregg Underheim, is poised to introduce an updated version
of a bill he sponsored last session. Let us hope that state legislators in
both our states will see fit to do the right thing for sick and dying
constituents and make medical marijuana a reality without further delay.
