USE OF POLICE TIME
Editor,
Acting Tasman police commander Inspector Brian McGurk defends allocating
over 20 hours of police time to arrest two alleged pot smokers at a
cannabis law reform rally held in Nelson recently.(Mailbox, 31 December)
While no serious crimes were reported while police were monitoring the
event, this case will take up many more police hours in court time and
court preparation. This will not impress residents of Whataroa who were
recently informed that they will soon have no police officer because the
Tasman District Police budget has all been spent.
Yours,
Duncan Eddy
