I'M A CANADIAN, EH

To the editor:

I came across my letter to you on the Internet ("American offers us drug
advice," Letters, Jan. 2).

You mistakenly identified me as American. I am not an American. I am a
Canadian citizen living just across the border, and I have some interest in
B.C. having lived there for about 25 years. I see the same attitudes in
Canadian society that I see in American society, but I believe Canada has a
chance to avoid the development of a destructive police state mentality
which has already occurred in the U.S. One indication of this is your
willingness to print my letter. I doubt that any "mainstream" American
newspaper would have done the same.
