THE EVIL WEED

Mark Bonokoski, give your head a shake ("Having sampled the marijuana
of today ...," Aug. 24). He has not, supposedly, smoked any weed
since his youth and yet made a determination that today's pot is way
too powerful to even consider legalizing. That is like not having a
shot for years and then having some 150 proof rum. Whoa, that stuff
should be illegal! The stuff he was smoking back in the day was
Mexican and you could inhale the whole bag. The quantity smoked today
has lessened as the quality improved. This column was the knee-jerk
reaction he probably would have accused his parents of when he was
20. I have read Bono for years and he is the last writer I would have
thought to be such a hypocrite.
