PRESENT YOUTH WITH FACTS, NOT FEAR
The story, Pot easy to find at schools: study (SP, Jan. 10), suggests that
teens aren't aware of marijuana's health hazards.
I would think the whole debate on marijuana use would take on a whole new
useful approach if there was both evidence and credible individuals
discussing respectfully with youth audiences the actual health hazards of
marijuana.
It's time we get beyond McCarthyism and discuss facts as opposed to
promoting fear and ignorance. Children are smart and need to be presented
with convincing arguments to make intelligent decisions. It's the least we
can do for them.
