DRUGS: CON RESISTS CON
Dear Editor
Mr. Barth [Magic in grass, Dec. 14 Letters to the Editor, Langley
Advance News] shouldn't try to con a con.
I was a member of the Timothy Leary group of LSD experimenters in the
50s and 60s, wherein we were all asked to test certain psychedelic
drugs to see what the effects would be.
I couldn't care less what your correspondent does to entertain
himself, whether it is with cannabis or alcohol. But he shouldn't
patronize an old codger who has seen a great deal of life and its
vagaries, at least enough to know that there is only one purpose for
ingesting any drug - to eliminate or minimize pain and discomfort
connected to living in a human body.
Are my views "prejudicial, arbitrary and discriminatory?" You better
believe it, baby! I don't take anything on face value, least of all
the denials of those who are addicted in one form or another.
