END THE VIOLENCE - RCMP
Police are appealing for an end to the blood-letting after two men
were murdered in an apparent gangland or drug-related homicide.
"We don't want to see any more violence, we don't want to see
retaliation," said RCMP Cpl. Diane Blain at a press gathering Monday.
"We don't want to see any more senseless deaths, so please come
forward and speak to police."
At 3:35 a.m. last Thursday, a Surrey RCMP officer came upon a blue
Ford F150 at 160 St. and 103 Ave., northwest of Tynehead Park. It
contained the body of one man, and a second wounded man who later
succumbed to his injuries. Both had been shot.
The investigation is being handled by the region's Integrated Homicide
Investigation Team (IHIT).
"Based on the current evidence, IHIT investigators believe that the
deaths are related to drug and/or gang activity," said Blain.
Jatinder Singh (Jerry) Natt, 22, was found dead at the scene, while
Sukhjinder Singh (Baboo or Sukhvir) Sohal, 39, died in hospital
Sunday. Both men were Surrey residents and known to police.
In addition to calling for an end to the violence, IHIT is asking for
public assistance.
"Thus far, no suspects have been identified in relation to this
shooting although it is believed that someone in the community can
help with this investigation," Blain said.
Natt's death brings to three the number of homicides in Surrey so far
this year.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Cpl.
L. Greig of IHIT or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers.
