SOLUTIONS TO DRUG PROBLEM ARE HARD TO COME BY

Everyone seems to have ideas about the drug problem - some good, some
bad. No wonder none of them works. The only time most lawmakers have
been on the street is walking from their car to their house. They try
to make laws regarding things they know nothing about.

They talk about people being hooked on street drugs while taking the
little pharmaceutical wonders they can't get through the day without.

I remember when the government was so proud of the machines and
computers that would "take the place of so many people" and were so
cheap to run.

What did our leaders think those people would do?

Is it really any cheaper to pay welfare for those out of work?

We have invented ourselves into a nightmare. It's no wonder some try
to escape into oblivion.

Don't get me wrong. Any improperly used drug, legal or not, is an
unfavorable shame. People talk about putting drug buyers and sellers
in jail. Why not put them in their own prison, where they can police
each other? I wonder how dealers would cope with all the users going
through withdrawals.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to have lawmakers work there a couple of
weeks. Maybe they could get some better ideas of what needs to be done.
