SUPPORT LEADERS IN PROTECTION

Re: Time to use the flag, Mr. White, Letters, Jan. 18, and Pot propaganda
panned, Letters, Jan. 21.

After reading these two letters I have some concerns. Both letters
debase our hard-working MP Randy White. Randy White is concerned about
the safety and the negative effects the passing of Bill C-17 will have
on our youth. This has upset the pro-marijuana apologist lobby.

The proposed federal government Bill C-17, decriminalization of
marijuana impacts the school system more than any other organization.
Youth will get a discount from adult fines.

Decriminalization equals legalization to many of our
youth.

There has been a great effort warning the public about the dangers of
tobacco, very little about marijuana. The apathy of a large segment of
society toward marijuana signals our youth, that using marijuana is
"no big deal." In some cases it is portrayed as a health enhancer.

The Abbotsford School Board should be commended for its effort in
protecting our youth from drugs, as should our city council and our
police department.

Do we care about the safety of our children and youth? If we do we
must support our community leaders.

Eric Myrholm,

Abbotsford
