READ THE REPORT: YOU JUST MAY BE SURPRISED

Editor, The News:

Abbotsford MP Randy White was pushing his message to the converted
last week as he urged the school board to familiarize themselves with
a bill that would decriminalize marijuana and mobilize parent groups
to get involved.

Parliament is set to debate Bill C-17 in February or March.

"The people who don't know about it are the ones who should know about
it, and that's parents," White said.

Those same parents should get "all" the facts, and familiarize
themselves with the history of marijuana prohibition in Canada.

It's all outlined very clearly in the 2002 cannabis report of the
Senate Special Committee on Illegal Drugs, which can be viewed in
whole or in part at:
http://www.parl.gc.ca/common/Committee_SenRep.asp?Language=E&Parl=37&Ses=1&comm_id=85

No one who reads this entire report can come away with any respect
whatsoever for the process that banned cannabis back in 1923, or for
those who have concocted almost a century of outright lies afterwards
to maintain that prohibition.

If White has read this report from cover to cover and still feels
justified in maintaining the criminal prohibition of cannabis, it's
plain that he has "issues" that have nothing to do with the effect of
this particular drug on any human being or on society.
