GROW-OP BYLAW FLAWED

If landlords are made to pay huge fines for someone else's pot-growing
(Saanich News, Jan. 19), they will have to turn to pot-growing to
afford to paythose fines. These bylaws and their fines will just be
factored in to the overall cost of growing pot, and result in higher
street prices and higher profits. Maybe that is the intention?

The one and only way to get this situation under control is for our
lazy and inept federal government to regulate it so that licensed
growers can grow pot in greenhouses and farms and industrial areas,
and thus put the black market out of business. Those who do grow at
home will have to be inspected by electricians and get permission from
the property owner.

Prohibition isn't working in Canada, and it isn't working in the U.S.
either, and they have much more strict penalties than we do. If all
this prohibition and fines and punishment stuff were going to work, it
would have worked by now.
