LEGALIZING POT IS SOLUTION
The Editor,
Obviously MP Vic Toews is not familiar with the problems that come
with marijuana prohibition ("Get tough on grow ops: MP," page 1, The
Tri-City News, Jan. 29).
Marijuana cultivation is at an "unprecedented level" because of the
illegality. By legalizing and regulating marijuana, the billion-dollar
underground market for pot would come crashing down.
Not only would marijuana be worthless in the underground market but
police officers would have time to go after real offenders.
MP Toews is keen on fighting a war on pot growers even though the
Canadian public has expressed no interest in punishing and policing
such activities.
If you can brew beer and wine in your basement, why shouldn't you be
able to grow some pot? The situation is so hypocritical, it's sickening.
