POLICE UNION SUPPORTS KEEPING RCMP DRUG SECTION IN TOWN
TRURO -- You can add the Truro Police Association to the list of people who
do not want to see the Northeast Nova Drug Section to leave town.
The union representing Truro police recently passed a motion that the
federal government keep the status quo and not move the section as has been
reported to be in the works.
"This section has a proven track record and has been a valuable ally to the
Truro police officers," said local 102 president Bruce Lake. "Drugs are a
major contributing factor in the escalating violent crimes in this area.
More then ever before weapons, in particular firearms, are being used."
He said removing the section would be an regressive move.
"This section is an important tool in the fight against illegal drug
traffic in this part of Nova Scotia.""
