INJECTION SITES INVITE DRUG DEALERS AND DRUGGIES TO OUR CITY
Editor:
I read, with disgust, an article about our mayor wanting discussions
about a safe injection site in Kamloops.
It's beyond disgusting, Mel. Do you not realize that Vancouver is No.
1 when it comes to being the drug capital of Canada? Do you want
Kamloops on the map as No. 2? I don't.
What on earth are you thinking? Or, are you thinking at
all?
Instead of setting up a system to invite the drug dealers and
"druggies" to our fair city, why not try to set up a system to get rid
of those people? Wouldn't that make more sense?
Vancouver has a horrible reputation with tourists. Even the stars who
were filming movies commented on the "druggies" being all over the
place. Crime has risen because of it. People, especially the elderly,
are not safe there.
People on drugs will do anything to get money for their habit. Drugs
are supposed to be illegal. These people are committing a crime - why
encourage it?
If you're so hell-bent on having this set up, Mel, why not do it out
of your own basement? And you can turn your home into a halfway house
while you're at it!
If you are so concerned about the future of Kamloops as I am, please
voice your opinion. It's imperative that we take care of our children.
Obviously no one at City Hall gives a damn.
