PEOPLE ON METH NEED HELP BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE

Editor, The Courier:

While talking to a friend at work, I was astonished to find out that
recently an acquaintance I knew had committed suicide. She was a very
pretty woman with children who got caught up in the vicious cycle of
Methamphetamine and could not get out. I can honestly say that I was
not a close friend, but knew her and the struggle she had staying away
from Meth. Her family and "true" friends tried to help as best they
could, and I can not imagine the pain and sorrow they are going
through at this time. I shudder at the thought of someone being so
desperately hopeless that they would take their own life. I have
watched friends addicted to Meth lose their family, jobs, and
everything they own. I have heard of situations where parents do the
drugs with their own children. I have seen them sentenced to
rehabilitation and prison, only to get out and get wrapped up in the
never-ending cycle once again. Please, if you find yourself in this
situation and have a friend or family member involved intervene before
it is too late. They will either acknowledge their problem or deny it,
but you will never know unless you try. Yes the saying goes, "you can
only help those who want to help themselves", but having someone
believe in them just might make the difference. Life is just way too
precious to waste.
