DON'T GIVE JUNKIES THEIR OWN POISON

I'm still reeling from the announcement that junkies will be given
free heroin, shooting up in safe houses, with sterile needles, all at
taxpayers' expense.

It might be more productive to provide free booze to alcoholics, a
nice little bar set-up to get the drinks and, of course, a free ride
home. This would keep boozers off the road, lower accident rates,
reduce the economic strain on household income and make everyone a
little happier. The cabbies would get a bit more income and perhaps
pay taxes. Really, this is a much better idea.
