TEST DRUG COPS FOR DRUGS
So Mayor Miller thinks that random drug testing would be a violation
of the civil rights of police officers. ("Dispute over cop drug
tests," Feb. 11) So how does he justify the RIDE campaign? Is this not
the same random testing of citizens? Police officers wield great
power. I, for one, would like to know that a drug-enforcement cop is
being tested once in a while, given that drugs are part of his
environment and very attractive. To reach back into the adage file:
"Sleep with dogs, get up with fleas." Or how about: "From whom much is
given, much will be required."
Art Waite
(Or "people who live in glass houses shouldn't get stoned"?)
