MOUNTIES BUST MAJOR METH LAB

Mounties busted what they are calling one of the largest drug labs in
Alberta's history yesterday near the quiet town of Didsbury.

Drug units from Edmonton, Calgary and Red Deer stormed a farm, 75 km
northwest of Calgary on Carstairs Blind Line, and seized 10 kg of crystal
methamphetamine.

Earlier, they'd received a tip from the property's real estate agent.

Realtor Randall Oberik was checking up on the uninhabited property at 9:30
a.m. Tuesday when he noticed two men entering the barn.

"I asked them what they were doing with the barn and they said fixing cars
and trucks but I could hear the whirring of a big industrial fan and it
aroused my suspicions."

Edmonton RCMP Const. Al Fraser wasn't able to estimate a street value for
the 10-kg bust.

"This is a pretty big, freaking lab," said Fraser adding two men, aged 29
and 32, were arrested at the scene.

Neighbour Lesley Grafe was angry to find out the drug lab was so close to
her home. "I think it's disgusting. It's not right to endanger other
peoples' lives and their animals," she said.
