FORMER DEAN FACES DRUG CHARGES

Martin Ray Houston, former dean of Ogden College of Science and
Engineering, was arrested Feb. 9, for possession of cocaine in the first
degree, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia in the
first degree.

He was released from the Warren County Regional Jail the next day on a
$5,000 unsecured bond. He was also arraigned on Feb. 10 and is awaiting
grand jury action, according to the Warren County Circuit Court Clerk's office.

Houston refused to comment.

He was teaching a biology class at the Glasgow campus this semester,
according to TopNet.

Bowling Green police officers were dispatched to Houston's residence, 2805
Harvest Lane, in regard to a disturbance, according to the arrest report.
Officers noticed five crack pipes on the living room floor, Officer Jamie
Peerce said.

Houston admitted to smoking crack the night before and consented to a
search of his residence. Officers found 11.1 grams of marijuana and a book
of rolling papers during the search, Peerce said.

Two other people, Mark Stefan Kreisler and Charlotte Curtis, were also at
the residence when police arrived, Peerce said.

Kreisler was arrested at the scene for possession of marijuana and
outstanding warrants for trafficking controlled substances from 1993,
according to the Bowling Green Daily News. He also admitted to smoking
crack the previous night. He was still in jail at press time.

Curtis fled on foot and was arrested later that night at Houston's
residence, Peerce said.

Houston was arrested in December of 2003 for operating a motor vehicle
under the influence of alcohol, expired registration plates and no
insurance, according to a database at the Warren County Justice Center.

Houston's employment as a dean ended in 2002. He was replaced by Blaine
Ferrell, the current dean of Ogden college. Ferrell would not comment on
the incident.
