PEACE 100 RAISES MORE THAN $20,000 FOR DRUG AWARENESS
Police, Elks and snowmobilers got together to raise more than $20,000 for
drug awareness during the PEACE 100 in Nipawin this past weekend.
PEACE 100 is a 100-mile sponsored snowmobile ride which stands for
Police-Elks Assisting Community Education.
The weather held out well for the event when riders generously toured the
trails in the name of support. The approximately $20,400 will be
contributed to drug awareness and education for young people.
The annual event brings in money for drug awareness programs like the DARE
program in Saskatchewan schools.
About 80 riders entered his year's event, which was up from last year's 75.
Total funds raised also exceeded last year's totals.
"It was up by about $1,000," said Elks member Pete Moisan.
The draws were held on Saturday evening with the grand prize, the
snowmobile, going to Dwain Holmstrom of Yorkton.
