SECURITY OR AN INVASION OF PRIVACY?

On Feb. 15, I went to the East Peoria CVS drugstore to purchase its brand
of PediaCare for my infant son, who was ill.

When I approached the front counter I was told to give my driver's license
to the cashier because the over-the-counter medication I wanted was
restricted. She took my full legal name, address and driver's license
number, and I had to sign for one ounce of medication for my child.

All this buzz is going on about identity theft. For this store to demand my
personal, private information is absurd. How do I know what these people
are going to do with this information? If this medication is so dangerous,
why don't they just make it illegal to purchase it over the counter and
make it prescribed by physicians only?

I purchased this type of medication from Walgreen's a week before without a
mention of this new law that CVS claimed was the reason for the security. I
hope everyone who reads this will consider the potential of similar
invasions of your privacy. Isn't this how identities are stolen?
