MOST INCARCERATED NATION IN HISTORY
Re. Bush dodges as addicts rot in jail Opinion, Feb. 27.
Kudos to Joe Conason for his outstanding op-ed. I'd like to add that the
United States is the most incarcerated nation in history. Although we have
fewer than 5 per cent of the world's population, we have more than 25 per
cent of the world's prisoners. In other words, one out of every four
prisoners in the world is locked in an American jail or prison.
