PROPAGANDA MISINFORMS ON POT
In Jesse Rodgers letter ("God Does Not Endorse Cannabis," Mar. 1, p. 8) is
a very good example of how the War on Drugs operates.
The Bible does indicate God created ALL the seed-bearing plants and said
they were all good, on literally the very first page in Genesis (1:11-12
and 29-30).
Rodgers assumption that Stan White ("Cannabis not evil," Feb. 28, p.4)
smokes cannabis is basically no different than assuming all students uses
drugs until they prove themselves by urinating in a cup.
It is correct to say any smoke inhaled is harmful, but I'd like to point
out the fact that many medical users of cannabis choose to use it in an
edible form for just this reason.
Mr. White also says in his letter that "it is commendable to help youth
resist drugs." In no way does he recommend its use for anyone.
In fact, the gist of his letter states that "caging responsible adult
cannabis users" and the teachings of the D.A.R.E. program are flawed.
The debate on cannabis use has been going on for longer than Rodgers has
been alive, so just let me end this letter with a quote:
"The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the
people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the
lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all its powers
to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie - and thus
by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the State." - Joseph
Goebbels, Hitler's Propaganda Minister
