IMPRISONED NATION
Thank you for our daily dose of government anti-drug propaganda. We are now
told of the insidious horrors of ordering prescription medicine by mail.
Of course, the knee-jerk public will call for even more anti-drug laws,
despite the fact that the war on drugs has made America the world's largest
imprisoner of its own people. The public no longer cares about privacy or
how much government encroaches on personal freedom.
As a responsible newspaper, the Herald-Leader should run more balanced
articles about the drug war. Many organizations oppose Big Brother's
attempts to make America a prison nation. Government will keep adding
prisons and police until there is no money left for schools or trash
pickup. Just say no to a police state.
