LEGALIZE AND REGULATE GROW OPS FOR SAFETY

Re: Teen turns in drug producing dad

Dear Editor:

It is possible to grow cannabis safely in a home, as licensed cannabis
producers Eric Nash and Wendy Little have shown in their book, Sell
Marijuana Legally (www.medicalmarihuana.ca).

If cannabis were legal to grow for commercial consumption, then these
makeshift, clandestine grows would become irrelevant. But since this
easy-to-grow weed is illegal, it's worth its weight in gold.

The bottom line is, prohibition fuels grow-ops, and regulation is the
only thing that will stop them. Regulation worked with alcohol in the
last century, and would work even better with cannabis now. But of
course, that would be the sensible thing to do, and it would help keep
kids safe, so don't expect our lazy and inept government to do it any
time soon.
