DRUG WAR CAPITULATION

Driving past Canadian and Alberta flags at half-staff because four
police officers were murdered, I wondered if Canadians were ready to
capitulate in the marijuana drug war.

After all, James Roszko was just one more child molester with only a
small grow-operation in his backyard.

Tolerance for breaking the law is exacerbated by judges slapping
wrists instead of using the law to its full extent. A compromised,
non-vetted judiciary has already given criminal inmates the right to
vote.

Naturally, social-liberals will demand more farmers' and hunters'
rifles be registered. And pot smokers will also exploit this tragedy.

At the Liberal convention last weekend, Prime Minister Paul Martin
implied that Canadians who disagree with homosexual marriage are
mindless bigots. Stiffer sentences for marijuana grow-operators were
avoided in order to push for legalization of hookers and
homosexual-marriage endorsement.

Young Liberals cheered Martin while wearing "It's the Charter, Stupid"
buttons. Obviously they hadn't read the Charter, or they would have
realized sexual orientation isn't in it.

The Liberal agenda is no longer hidden. The far-left wing of the
Liberal party has been lobbying for legal marijuana, legal
prostitution, same-sex marriage and euthanasia for years

Federal justice ministers have done extensive harm-reduction studies
in smoky Amsterdam cafes over the years. We're not talking evil,
overtaxed tobacco smoke, folks. Holland has become the illegal drug
depot for Europe and its judges are so out of control that recently,
Dutch police were reprimanded for taking a gun away from an armed
robber because the loss was "infringing on his livelihood."

Canada already has a defacto decriminalization policy. Following the
Dutch example, official decriminalization will only ensure marijuana
growers are given continually lighter sentences, allowing organized
crime more room to outfox police.

You may have missed the story where Paul Martin's former B.C.
fundraiser David Basi was charged with marijuana offences last
September. Basi also faces six other charges regarding a
billion-dollar BC Rail deal.

It isn't only government sending confusing signals. Alberta power
company Enmax's January bill told customers how to recognize and
report grow-ops. This makes sense, since marijuana growers are
stealing power.

But, according to Candis McLean's report in the Western Standard,
Enmax contributed $22,000 to the Liberal party between 1998-2004 -
the same party that last weekend refused to discuss giving stiffer
sentences to marijuana grow operators.

When you visit the Calgary Zoo with your kids, realize from 1999-2003
the zoo also gave $12,728 to the Liberal party. This is the X-rated
political party that now openly supports legal prostitution, same-sex
marriage, marijuana decriminalization and that wants to raise your
kids in national day care.

Calgary Northeast MP and former police detective Art Hanger honours
the four fallen police officers. At the same time, he points to
inadequate funding for law enforcement in this country.

"All levels of government need to step up to the plate and focus on
criminal justice reform, and take action to ensure the necessary
resources are available to those tasked with our safety," said Hanger.

We don't need to change laws to appease criminals. To capitulate might
be Canadian, but don't forget -- this is Alberta.
