GUNS, NOT GROW OPS, A PROBLEM
Last week's tragedy of four murdered RCMP officers in the backyard of
Public Safety Minister Anne McLellan has reignited the issue of
grow-ops with the majority of the criticism focused on light
sentencing by the courts.
This focus is misdirected, we should be looking at the failed gun
control registry.
A grow-op did not lead to this tragedy, ineffective gun control is at
the crux of the problem. Last week it was drugs, next month it could
be a car theft ring and following that who knows.
Let's deal with the real problem, a lack of effective control by this
government over illegal firearms.
Until we learn how to keep illegal firearms out of the hands of
criminals, we risk a repeat of last week's terrible incident.
