MAN GETS 6 MONTHS FOR GROW-OP
A TORONTO man was jailed yesterday for six months for running a
sophisticated grow-op with more than 300 marijuana plants. Toronto Police
and officials of the Crown attorney's office say in light of the slaying of
four Mounties in Alberta, they're pleased that Michael Jacobson, 33, was
also placed on probation for 18 months. The officers had stumbled on a
grow-op when killed.
"The sentence shows the courts are taking these cases seriously," Crown
attorney Althea Francis said. "Court heard it was a relatively
sophisticated operation."
The Douglas Ave. home had 376 plants in various stages of growth inside and
in the garage when police arrived.
It's estimated the operation could have grown pot worth $500,000 on the street.
