POT ADVOCATES IGNORE ITS ILL EFFECTS

With all the attention given to the connection between pot and its
legalization, it seems that people have forgotten why pot is illegal in the
first place. The recent deaths of four RCMP officers who were investigating
a grow-op in Alberta and many similar incidents have proven that many
effects of the drug are not as benign as advocates for its use would have
us believe

The majority of the world's population lives happily and productively
without using marijuana. We constantly pay for the indiscretions of users
whose mental and moral capacities are diminished by using pot. Although
many people claim they suffer no ill effects, many don't even realize they
have been incapacitated.

This is likely why there is such reluctance to create freer access to
marijuana. As a former user myself, I found it incapacitating. It also
brought out violent tendencies in some people, much like alcohol does.

The law is supposed to protect us and not create more social problems. I
expect, though, that the government will eventually capitulate to those who
want to smoke pot and claim to need it to be able to function and amuse
themselves.
