WASTING TIME ON METH BILL

Regarding the legislation controlling the sale of meth ingredients: The
only thing the bill will accomplish is Sudafed will cost you a couple
dollars more a box at a drug store, and you won't be able to get any after
6 o'clock if you live in a small town.

If drug addicts want drugs, they will get them. This bill will only hurt
law-abiding citizens. Only when we stop treating drug addiction like a
crime and start treating it as an illness will we make any headway. If we
took the millions we spend imprisoning people for what they put in their
bodies and spent it on education and treatment we might put a dent in the
drug problem.

I only wish our Legislature weren't afraid to take on real problems like
the health-care system, the pharmaceutical companies or, heaven forbid, oil
companies.
