HELP ADDICTS QUIT THEIR HABIT
Next step? Free prescription cocaine, street drugs and alcohol?
I believe funds could be spent more effectively by referring addicts to
programs proven to be already effective.
Change has to come from within. At some point, the addict has to decide
whether he wants to continue along the same path in life or make a switch.
We are better off supporting the people who want to change.
By giving out free heroin and free needles, we are supporting addicts'
habits and keeping them trapped in their addiction rather than using
positive motivation to affect change.
Government cutbacks that killed many such support programs should be
reinstated.
