FISCAL REVIEW FOR FOUR PILLARS
The Kelowna office of Grant Thornton LLP has been awarded a contract
to provide a cost analysis of the Central Okanagan Framework for Action.
The action initiative is a Four Pillar approach to problematic drug
use and related issues in the Central Okanagan that was funded by the
City of Kelowna and the District of Lake Country.
Funding for the cost analysis is being provided by Health Canada.
Grant Thornton will assess the financial requirements for 16 of the 28
actions identified by the Central Okanagan Four Pillars steering
committee and in consultation with key participants estimate the costs
of resources required for successful implementation of the actions.
A cost analysis report will be provided by the end of April.
The report will be made public within two weeks of completion, pending
approval by Health Canada.
The Central Okanagan Four Pillars Coalition is comprised of citizens
with expertise, or an interest in one or more of the four aspects of
community safety known as pillars: treatment, prevention, harm
reduction and enforcement; and have formed working groups.
The steering committee is the guiding force behind the individual
working groups.
