WASTE OF MONEY

RE "Crack pipe crackdown," (March 30): I could have sworn it was April
Fool's Day today when I read the article about the City of Ottawa providing
drug users with free crack pipes.

Do we really have such a surplus of cash that we can provide drug
paraphernalia to crack addicts? I thought drugs were illegal in this
country.

Pardon me for not being a bleeding heart or politically correct, but I don't
really care if these addicts give themselves HIV.

Helping them smoke crack with my tax dollars is not acceptable. The lack of
fiscal responsibility by all levels of government just kills me. How about,
for once, using tax dollars only for the essentials and dropping the stupid
waste of money on pet projects.
