77 CRIME STOPPER TIPS FROM INNISFIL

The flyer residents recently received with their hydro bills regarding
grow operations in the town has brought some tips to Simcoe-
Dufferin-Muskoka Crime Stoppers.

"All the information helps," said Joanne Gates of SDM Crime
Stoppers.

In a delegation before Committee of the Whole Wednesday evening, Gates
told council there are 1200 world wide Crime Stoppers programs, with
39 in Ontario alone.

Made of volunteers, Crime Stoppers is a non profit organization that
holds fundraisers in order to raise the money needed for cash rewards.

Joanne Kinsella of SDM Crime Stoppers said since January 1, 2006 until
August 29th, 2007, 143 Crime Stopper tips have been relayed to the
South Simcoe Police.

"Of those tips, 77 were for the Town of Innisfil, and 66 for BWG,"
said Kinsella.

Of the $1000 approved for rewards given out for the South Simcoe tips,
$650 has been paid out to Innisfil residents. "We would like to see
the public call more," Kinsella said.

Councillor Lynn Dollin asked how prevalent crystal meth is in the area.

Kinsella said when you see a marijuana operation, chances are you may
see crystal meth as well.
