CRIME STOPPERS WANTS YOU
Over the past few months, Calgary area residents have assisted Calgary
Police Service (CPS) and the RCMP with the seizure of more than
half-a-million dollars worth of marijuana, through calls to Crime Stoppers.
Tips to Crime Stoppers have resulted in the successful investigation by the
Southern Alberta Marijuana Investigative Team (SAMIT) of four individual
grow operations. Marijuana seizures ranged from $8,200 to $295,000
The $535,000 worth of marijuana seized in recent weeks through Crime
Stoppers tips is in addition to the nearly $1.5 million in drugs seized
since the inception of Calgary Crime Stoppers in 1982.
Residents of Calgary and area are reminded that tips to Crime Stoppers can
be made by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by going online at:
www.calgarycrimestoppers.org
Newly updated software has been installed on the Calgary Crime Stoppers Web
site, allowing tipsters to simply click and fill in an electronic form,
which is then submitted to Crime Stoppers.
The tipster will remain anonymous at all times. Transaction logs are
'scrubbed and erased' and there is no record of the electronic address from
which the tip was generated.
From the beginning, anonymity has been the cornerstone of the Calgary
Crime Stoppers program. Crime Stoppers wants your information, not your name.
