Drug crack-down

Since December 2004 until March 2005, the Princeton RCMP detachment have
been extremely busy combatting the drug problem within the community
targeting and charging those responsible for the producing and/or
trafficking of drugs.

During this short time, RCMP have executed an unprecedented 23 controlled
substance warrants in and around the Princeton area.

This level of enforcement takes a great deal of commitment and dedication
from every member of the detachment. Many of these investigations require a
great deal of man hours and overtime hours to legally obtain search
warrants, collect evidence and deal with the perpetrators responsible.

Methamphetamine has become the detachment's first priority. They are doing
everything they can and are requesting the assistance of every member of
the community to help identify those using, trafficking or manufacturing
this drug. This lethal drug is so addictive that with just one dose, the
person is addicted.

There is much frustration from around the community in regards to the
aggressive way the police are dealing with impaired driving, as well. Most
of these drivers charged were grossly intoxicated with highly elevated
blood alcohol levels , often four times the legal limit. The priority of
the Princeton detachment is to ensure the streets are safe for everyone.

The Princeton RCMP would like to personally thank all those who have
assisted with identifying criminal activity within the community and
encurae others to follow their lead and urge anyone to contact the
detachment with their concerns.
