FACTS WILL HELP SOLVE PROBLEM
Re: Higher standards needed in newspapering, Letters, April 12.
I wonder what Mrs. E Wishart would have liked the headline to read? My
understanding is that the article was about high school kids trading sex
for drugs. It is not sensationalizing to just tell the facts. These are
facts that need to be printed.
I have felt for some time that many in Abbotsford like to live like an
ostrich with their head in the ground. They don't like to admit we have a
crime problem or a drug problem. This only proves that. They must think,
"So long as I don't see it or hear it, it must not be going on."
When your paper puts this on the front page it becomes harder to pretend
that these problems do not exist. I commend the Abbotsford Times for
reporting the facts. And I hope that it will help the community fix the
problem.
