B.C. ELECTION: POT LEADER UNDER FIRE
Dear Editor,
Several of Marc Emery's comments are rude and spiteful [Profile: Radical
changes offered, April 12, Langley Advance News].
Considering that he is running in the Fort Langley riding in the
upcoming provincial election, I am seriously concerned about his
comments about the electorate in this riding and his ability to
appropriately represent the views and concerns of this community. In
essence, he is saying that Langley residents are largely white senior
citizens who are ignorant and hate mongers.
I may be white, but I am not a senior, nor am I uneducated, ignorant,
or filled with hate.
Mr. Emery says that "our educational institutions are cold, unloving
buildings with unionized teachers that basically teach conformity and
allow bullying."
As an educator, I would welcome Mr. Emery to observe me in my Grade 1
classroom, where I can assure you, my classroom is neither unloving
nor cold.
Based on his opinions of the citizens of Langley, I would offer that
Mr. Emery is intolerant, bigoted, and hateful.
He repeatedly insulted the residents of Langley, and yet is asking
those same people to choose him to represent their needs and concerns
in Victoria.
I would suggest that he is uneducated in the age, race, and make-up of
his riding, and that he is ill-prepared to run an election campaign
with integrity.
