WE HAVE MONEY IN PERMANENT FUND TO MOVE CAPITAL, STILL HELP JUNEAU
Andrew Halcro's "Capital move would be a costly action" (April 10) is
typical politician's rhetoric.
Juneau would still be a stop on the cruise ship tours of Alaska for
its historical significance. State government offices not critical to
the legislative and executive branches of government should stay. But
the capital of Alaska should move to Anchorage or the Valley, where
over 60 percent of Alaskans can make the drive.
Why? The majority party in the executive branch and most of the
legislative branch is devoid of ethics and continually attempts to
legislate opposite the will of the people. Also, we have the money in
the Permanent Fund to bring the capital to the people and still help
Juneau. It is nice to contact our elected officials: however, their
reality is in Juneau and partisan politics. Voting them out is after
the damage is done.
Mass demonstrations would have impacted Frank when he went back on his
pledges upon taking office and then committed nepotism. Don't forget
Randy Ruedrich, Gregg Renkes and Loren Leman. Now, Frank has lied
about the strength of marijuana in his attempt to make criminals out
of the 134,600 Alaskans who voted for legalization of marijuana last
November. The right to demonstrate is an American heritage, but you
can't do it if the capital is 900 miles away.
