SEPARATION WORKS
Editor: Kelly Allen's sad story (letters, The Times, April 10) highlights
the fact there is nothing more important than keeping drugs away from kids.
This is also something the whole of Canada is failing misereably at.
I am not advocating drug use, but when the Netherlands separated their hard
and soft drug markets by allowing the open sale of marijuana they were
rewarded with a decline in new drug addicts. This, of course, means that
kids stopped doing drugs as much.
Marijuana use is rampant already, it is hardly going to cause more problems
than it already is if we regulate it. And if it will help keep all drugs
out of the hands of kids, I say why not? In the face of stories such as
Brad's, we have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
