ELECTION 2005: ANTHEM HERALDS POTTY PRINCE'S NEW ORDER

Dear Editor,

How blind can an old man be?

Wallowing in white ignorance, I saw The Prince as a single-issue tin pot
crusader [Marc Emery Profile: Radical changes offered, April 12, Langley
Advance News].

I now see that he has a broader vision: a New Order for the betterment of
mankind, no less.

It begins with enlightenment through indulgence, a process lasting from
ages five to 16 - a doctrine of uninhibited, juvenile, ideally lederhosened
Strength through Joy.

Thus shaped, the emergent Emery Youth will be free to pursue tranquil
fulfillment in a world viewed through a fragrant, blissful, hepen haze -
the promised land of potted dreams, open Sundays, and unfettered obscenity.

And then, joyous journey near-done, content in the knowledge that they have
run the good race, the puffers and duffers can join the long line shuffling
towards sweet oblivion, Death with Dignity, leaving the young-at-heart to
enjoy as needed rehabilitation in freed-up hospital beds.

Perhaps, as a fond farewell, The Potty Prince will decree senile departure
to the sound of happy children trilling the party anthem:

Oh Cannabis Our analgesic hay, Grow strong and free, And blow our minds
away ...

Incidentally, in 18 years or so, an aging Prince will be free, even
obligated, to join the long line - with, of course, dignity.

H.L. Jones, Langley
