COQUITLAM SHOULD FOLLOW POCO ON PROPOSED POT BYLAW
The Editor,
Re. "Got pot? You'll have bills, too" (page 1, The Tri-City News, April 30).
I would like to commend the city of Port Coquitlam for taking action with
regards to the costs relating to home-based pot farms. I think it is
fantastic and would love to see the same bylaw in Coquitlam.
The article states, "Property owners who fail to notify the city may be
subject to a long list of service fees incurred by the city, Coquitlam RCMP
and PoCo Fire/Rescue to clean up the home..." I would hope the city of
Coquitlam is looking to do the same as PoCo, especially after reading
Saturday's Tri-City News, where, once again, we read Coquitlam firefighters
were called out to a home and discovered it was yet another grow op.
It is crazy and annoying to think that our highly trained people are having
to spend a large percentage of their time doing clean-up for the home-based
pot farms. What a waste of not time and tax dollars. I do not wish to
support this huge industry with my hard-earned money and I am sure it is
frustrating for the fire department and RCMP and any others involved to
have to deal with this.
I would like to see the city of Coquitlam take the same action as PoCo.
