POLICE IN STING SHOWED COURAGE, HEROISM

Regarding the May 10 shootout at the Heartland Inn in Des Moines: Des
Moines police demonstrated courage, willpower and heroism in intercepting
two career criminals. Their actions also show this state is keeping its
head up about methamphetamine and its terrible scourge.

The biggest promise the 10 officers' heroism in the reverse sting shows is
that Iowa police stand up for kids. The incident also shows the necessity
of more schools, more teachers and more guidance so that the Castillos and
Schofields of the world don't have to end up where they do.
