CLEAN SLATE

I see in your paper, a celebration is coming up this June 3 for the
graduates of drug court. At present, I'm having the pleasure of working
with two young men involved with this program, and I mean it when I say
it's a pleasure. Both, hard workers, have told me how much they really love
this program and how it has saved them from the evils of "meth" use, which
seems to be a terrible problem in our community.

One young man has been clean for six months and the other for nine months.
Both are very proud to tell you so, too! Incarceration would've never given
these two a chance in life like drug court has. They are under constant
compliance with this program requiring visits with probation officers,
counseling and sporadic UA's (urinary analysis).

I'm so proud of these young men as I have a family member that has spent
most of his adult life in prison due to drugs, and since his release has
gone straight back to his old ways. It's heartbreaking to see a young life
go to waste.

Judge Robert Lane, along with his staff, deserve a lot of credit and thanks
from our community for this wonderful program. I'm hoping the people of
Pahrump will realize this and contribute in one way or another to the
upcoming graduation celebration as it really is for a good cause.

Thank you for your time and perseverance Judge Lane and I pray you will
receive continued support for drug court, which is really saving lives.
