WE MUST HELP END DRUGS' 'REVOLVING DOOR'

In reference to "We must offer help" in Your Views on May 9th, I, too, am
appalled as to how a drug illness is treated in today's society.

Even after a person has "paid their debt to society," it becomes nearly
impossible to even find a job in an attempt to become a productive member
of that same society they paid their debt to. It would appear that someone
guilty of even more heinous crimes would have a better chance of finding
gainful employment.

We all probably know, love, or know of someone with a drug illness. No
wonder the recidivism rate is at over 80 percent. Drug treatment in prison
will have little effect if when released no one will give you a chance at a
job therefore a chance at having a life.

We must do something to help them and lessen the "revolving door" syndrome.
These people need our help not our condemnation.
