RIGHT-WING DRUG REFORMERS

John Gizzi's op-ed about reclusive left-wing billionaire Peter B. Lewis,
while fair enough, will do much to feed the paranoia of your right-wing
readers ("The new Howard Hughes?," May 22 and TribLIVE.com).

My objection is that he managed, perhaps inadvertently, to tie leftist
political thinking with the marijuana legalization movement. Yes, many
political liberals advocate reform, if not outright repeal, of drug
prohibition; I'm one of them.

You're wrong, however, if you think anti-prohibition thinking is
exclusively composed of liberals. All Americans who believe in individual
rights and the First and Fourth amendments, among others, would be
anti-prohibitionist if they stopped to think about it.
